Course Objectives :

The course is designed to give Civil Labour Officers and Line Managers an overview of the principles and procedures in place within BFG with regards to Discipline and Absence management.

 

During the course, the following areas will be covered:

a. To identify the difference between discipline and restoring efficiency.
b. To know how to interpret BF(G) LEC Capability/Discipline Policy, Rules and Procedures.
c. The preparation for the Disciplinary Interview.
d. Conducting and skills involved in the Disciplinary Interview.
e. To demonstrate the use of effective questioning and listening techniques in a live interview situation.
f. The Line Managers Role in handling absence.
g. Identifying trends, the types and reasons for absence.
h. Identifying remedies to reduce absence.
i. The use of disciplinary procedures in cases of absence.
j.To demonstrate the use of effective questioning and listening techniques in a live interview situation.

 

Who should attend?

This workshop is essential for any line manager or anyone in a supervisory position who wish to have a better understanding of disciplinary and absence rules and procedures. It is aimed at those who wish to be more confident and professional when dealing with difficult 'people' situations as well as short term and long term absence occurrences in the workplace. This module is particularly useful as refresher training for those who have been in Human Resource Management positions for some time.
